Home price increase the biggest in 15 years

Chicago-area home values were up almost 9 percent in January compared to the year-age month, but the bump was lower than all 20 major U.S. cities except one.

Home prices in Chicago and across the country rang in the new year with their biggest increases in 15 years, according to a national index released this morning.

Chicago-area home values were up 8.9 percent in January compared to the same time in 2020, according according to the S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller Indices.
